Sorry “God of War” Fans: "Ragnarok" Has Been Delayed Until 2022

"Do not mistake my silence for lack of grief!"

Gamers are gonna have to wait a little longer before they can slaughter fools and snap necks with Kratos ‘cos God of War: Ragnarok has been delayed until next year.

RIP my god slaying desires.

Developer behind the game Sony Santa Monica confirmed today in a statement that they’ve decided to postpone the release of Ragnarok.

“Since the release of the next God of War teaser last year, we’ve been humbled by the amount of love our community has shown us,” the statement reads.

“We’re incredibly grateful to see so many people excited to experience the next chapter of Kratos and Atreus’ journey."

We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game whilst maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners and families. With this in mind, we’ve decided to shift the release window to 2022.”

Yeah, we’re devo we can’t dive into the epic battles of Ragnarok with Kratos and Atreus, but we can’t argue with Sony Santa Monica’s reasoning.

There is a silver lining to this bad news though: in a PlayStation Blog post it was revealed that Ragnarok won’t just be a PS5 exclusive but will also be coming to the PS4.

Great news for anyone struggling to get their hands on a PS5, but also we’re loving the fact that Twitter has begun roasting the PS4, saying it won’t be up to scratch to handle a game as big as Ragnarok.

Little is known about the plot of Ragnarok other than it shares the name with the Norse mythology of Ragnarok. In that story, Ragnarok—meaning the fate of the gods—is a battle that led to the renewal of the world through a great flood as well as the deaths of a bunch of gods including Odin and Thor.

Our money is on an in-game boss fight between Kratos and Thor. Calling it now.
