Kayo Sports Is Now Available on the PS4 and PS5

Better late than never.

As if you needed another reason to stay glued to your PlayStation, Kayo Sports is finally available for the PS4 and PS5 in Australia.

That’s great news for sports fans, not so much for their partners.

At the moment, when you buy a PS5 there are several streaming apps that come pre-downloaded on the console including Netflix, Stan and Disney+, but a dedicated sports streaming app was sadly missing.

(If you’re curious btw, here’s the full list of entertainment streaming apps that come built into the PS5.)

Thankfully, that will now be a thing of the past ‘cos Kayo have announced its sports streaming app is now available to download on both the PS4 and PS5.

For PS5 users, simply open the media section on the home screen to find the Kayo app. For anyone using a PS4, jump into the PS store, search for the Kayo app and hit the download button.

Keep in mind, you can’t sign up for a Kayo account via your PlayStation, so you’ll need to use their website to get a membership before using it on the PS4 or PS5.

Once you've done that, you can gorge on all the sports that Kayo has on offer including every AFL game, all the cricket you could want from test to the Big Bash League, every NBA game, NFL, MotoGP and Formula 1 (a personal fave).

Speaking about the long-anticipated PlayStation app, General Manager for PlayStation Australia and New Zealand Goncalo Fialho said they’re excited to welcome Kayo to the PlayStation family down under.

“We know so many of our Aussie gamers are obsessed with sport,” Fialho said.

“Our exciting partnership with Kayo continues to make PlayStation the best place to play and be entertained and gives our players even more ways to watch all their favourite sports content they want on their consoles.”

If there is one downside to Kayo’s team up with PlayStation, it's that the SplitView feature—where you can watch up to four sports at the same time—is not supported on the PlayStation.

Can’t win them all, hey?

The only thing that would make this better is if PlayStation and Kayo announce that you can split your screen so you can watch sport and play games at the same time. Make it happen, dammit!

Kayo Sports gives you access to over 50 sports live and on-demand and is now available for the PS4 and PS5. Kayo memberships start at $25 per month.
