So, Turns Out Kate McKinnon’s "Tiger King" Series Will Be Filmed in Queensland

Well, it's clearly Australia's most exotic state.
Remember when all the internet could talk about was Netflix's true crime saga Tiger King? We're sure you do. After all, it inspired countless memes, TikTok challenges and even our very own investigation into whether Joe Exotic actually sings his own songs.
On top of that, a couple of new dramatised Tiger King television series have been in the works for months.
One is being developed by Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon, who is set to star as cool cat Carole Baskin. The other project will see Nicolas Cage step into the role of Exotic.

While we're definitely excited to see McKinnon and Cage embody such highly chaotic characters, details for the separate projects have been kept tightly under wraps.
However, it was recently announced that majority of the filming for McKinnon's new Tiger King series, which is currently titled Joe Exotic, will take place in Queensland.
The filming is part of a $19.6 million dollar deal between the federal government and NBCUniversal's Universal Studio Group, called the Location Incentive program.
Although, McKinnon's series isn't the only show that'll be filmed in Queensland over the next 18 months. NBC's Young Rock, starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Irreverent from NBCUniversal International Studios' Matchbox Pictures will also be filmed in the state.
Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk hopes the plan will boost the state's economy.
"These productions are expected to contribute around $143 million to the Queensland economy," the Premier said via TV Tonight.
"More than 3,500 local cast, crew and extras will also be employed to work across the three shows and many more jobs supported in numerous industries like hospitality, tourism, transport and logistics.
"Due to the measures we have in place and the amazing efforts of Queenslanders in dealing with this pandemic, Queensland is one of the safest places to film not just in Australia, but in the world."

McKinnon's show centres on Baskin, who learns that Exotic is breeding and using his big cats for profit. She sets out to shut down his venture, inciting a quickly escalating rivalry. But Baskin has a checkered past of her own and when the claws come out, Exotic will stop at nothing to expose what he sees as her hypocrisy.
The limited series will air on NBC, Peacock and USA Network. We'll let you know how you can watch it in Australia as soon as we find out.
At this stage, the release date for McKinnon's series has not been confirmed.
If you're in Queensland, you may want to start recording your audition tape to be an extra on the show.
