Sick of Having Girl Dinner? All the TikTokkers you Need to Follow for Easy, Delish Eats

Is it a meal? Is it a snack? It’s girl dinner.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you would’ve seen the latest viral phenomenon sweeping TikTok where girls show off their dinner plates, or should we say snack plates?

They’re always made for one and usually feature a mishmash of ‘picky bits’– a piece of cheese with a few cut-up carrots alongside a handful of Pringles and a hot chocolate, for example.

The phrase was coined by TikTokker, Olivia Maher, in this video where she talks about how much she enjoys the simple pleasure of a plate of small bites–a charcuterie board for one if you will.

It’s totally relatable, right? We’ve all gotten home from uni or work and not been bothered to cook, so instead we just graze–no pots or pans required.

Girl dinner is a celebration of laziness in a world of meal prepping and overnight oats. It can help us get through our leftovers in the fridge, reduce waste and it’s stress-free while also being *aesthetically pleasing*.

But, and we hate to be the ones to break this to you, no one should be eating girl dinners every night because they aren’t exactly good for you.

That’s why we’ve put together a list of TikTokkers you should be following for recipes that are cheap, easy-to-follow and delicious–the same effort levels of a girl dinner but with more nutritional value.

@chloeevegan

Chloe Wheatland is an Aussie influencer providing the goods when it comes to cheap and easy eats that are also healthy and plant-based–perfect for our vego and vegan friends.

She’s got a series called ‘Two Cheap’ where she makes delish meals that you can serve up for less than $2 per meal.

They all take around 15-20 minutes to make, they’re actually good for you and they’re most definitely cost-of-living-approved. Who needs girl dinner with these on the menu?

@natsnourishments

Natalia Rudin is a British personal chef specialising in the best things to cook after a long day of… well, in her case, cooking.

She describes her series as “what I like to cook for myself as a personal chef who’s had a really long day and just can’t be bothered” and, having tried quite a few of her recipes myself, I can vouch for how quick and tasty they are.

@tiffycooks

Tiffy’s recipes may look a little more advanced, but she still has plenty of easy, cheap and yummo meals on her socials and on her website.

As an established food blogger with more than 3 million followers, she has a couple of great series worth checking out, but my favourite is ‘Realistic Dinners’ which is kinda like Tiffy’s version of a girl dinner.

These quick recipes turn food you most likely already have in the fridge or cupboard into some kind of hearty comfort meal you won’t be able to stop thinking about anytime soon.

It honestly feels illegal to be eating this good for this cheap, but if you start cooking with these recipes, you could be in on the crime with us. Bon Appetit!
