Viral Fridays: Finn Wolfhard and Miley’s New Self-Love Bop

‘Flowers’ has no right to be so catchy.

Ahh, the internet has been an absolute treat these holidays. Every time I think I’ve seen it all, it continues to surprise me. From Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard becoming one of TikTok’s favourite memes right now to Miley bringing out arguably the biggest banger of the summer, let’s see what’s been trending.

Trending on TikTok: Finn Wolfhard snapping his fingers.

It’s clear that Stranger Things fans have a reputation for bringing out iconic TikTok trends, like the Eleven line ‘you are like papa’ and of course the iconic ‘Chrissy Wake Up’.

The wait between seasons almost seems non-existent with all the Stranger Things that takes over our screens, and fans have treated us once again to the latest meme featuring Finn Wolfhard.

It’s a bit of a mystery as to where exactly this clip of Finn came from – he walks towards the camera and simply snaps his fingers with a smirk, with a sped-up version of ‘Give It To Me’ by Timbaland playing underneath.

This short clip has been used as a transition when Finn snaps his fingers to show things like a before-and-after, or a change - the results have been hilarious. I have well and truly been called out in this one below:

Trending in Music: Miley Cyrus’ new hit ‘Flowers’.

Miley Cyrus has recently released her lead single ‘Flowers’ off her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation and we’re obsessed. However, the internet is not just obsessed with the catchy melody and lyrics, but the steaming hot tea that it comes with.

There’s been juicy speculation around whether the song is directed towards her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth. If you were wondering why ‘Flowers’ may sound somewhat familiar, the chorus samples the song ‘When I Was Your Man’ by Bruno Mars in both its altered melody and lyrics to reflect her journey in self-love. Multiple fans and outlets like PopBuzz have reported that during their relationship, Liam had dedicated this Bruno Mars song to Miley.

Whether this is true or not, this song is a certified banger and we can’t wait to hear the rest of the tracks from the album.

Trending in Film: The 2023 Oscar Nominations are announced.

The 95th Academy Awards nominees were announced early this week, and is set to air in March hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

With the main ensemble all nominated for their roles in the film, Everything Everywhere All At Once is no doubt the one to watch this year at the Oscars, with a total of eleven nominations.

Check out our wrap up of the biggest categories from this year’s Oscar nominations here.

Trending in TV: Percy Jackson and the Olympians Cast Zeus and Poseidon.

The hype is real for the new Percy Jackson series coming to Disney Plus, and it only continues to grow with the latest casting announcement.

The official announcement was made this morning that Lance Reddick (John Wick, Lost) will be playing the almighty Zeus, and Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) will play the role of Poseidon – Percy’s dad.

Some fans were hoping to see Logan Lerman – who played Percy in the 2010 and 2013 movies – to play Poseidon in the television series, but after the film’s lack of love from the author of the Percy Jackson series, it will be great to see a fresh new cast.

A couple of recognisable names and faces you’ll see in this new series include Walker Scobell (The Adam Project) as Percy, and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton, Brooklyn 99) as Hermes.

Haven't seen the Percy Jackson movies yet? Looking forward to the new series? Sign up to Disney+ here to experience it all.

Trending in Gaming: Surprise Release Hi-Fi Rush Launches Strong.

During the Xbox and Bethesda showcase this week, the team behind the Evil Within games both announced and released their latest game – a single player rhythm-based, combat game called Hi-Fi Rush. With such an unexpected launch, it might be easy to assume that this game isn’t worth looking it, but early reviews say otherwise.

For a surprise release, the game’s reception has been met incredibly well. Not only is it currently trending on Twitter, but its sitting at 98% ‘Overwhelmingly Positive’ rating from 923 reviews right now.

The game is available now on PC and Xbox Series X|S, and even better – it’s included with Game Pass. Don’t have Game Pass yet? You can get your first month of Microsoft Xbox Game Pass for PC for $1 here.

And that’s the wrap on another Viral Fridays! *finger snaps into the weekend*
