Nominees for the 2023 Oscars Are Finally Out - Here's Who Dominated the Nominations

One film has led with an incredible 11 nominations.
It’s awards season, baby!
Jimmy Kimmel will be presenting, with the 95th Oscars airing on Aussie mainstream TV on March 13, most likely like last year on Channel 7 according to Harper’s Bazaar.
The nominees were announced last night, so here’s some of the categories to look out for and the latest predictions.

Best Picture.
The ten nominees for Best Picture are:
- All Quiet on the Western Front
- Avatar: The Way of Water
- Elvis
- Tár
- The Fablemans
- The Banshees of Inisherin
- Top Gun: Maverick
- Triangle of Sadness
- Women Talking
- Everything Everywhere All At Once
Everything Everywhere All At Once has led the Oscars this year for the most nominations, and is one of the favourites to win with several other big wins under its belt including the AFI Awards’s ‘Movie of the Year’ and ‘Best Picture’ at the Critics Choice Awards.
According to Decider, Banshees of Inisherin is a strong contender with its ‘Best Picture’ win at the Golden Globe Awards, but is tied second with the most Oscar nominations alongside All Quiet on the Western Front.
Best Actor in a Leading Role.
It’s no surprise that Austin Butler has been nominated for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’ for his performance in Elvis.
His fellow nominees include Colin Farrell (The Banshees of Inisherin), Paul Mescal (Aftersun), Bill Nighy (Living) and Brendan Fraser (The Whale).
The internet is buzzing for the ‘Brenaissance’ with Brendan Fraser’s return to the big screen after a series of troubling events within the film industry that forced him out of the spotlight.

Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
For Best Actor in a Supporting Role, nominee Ke Huy Quan from Everything Everywhere All At Once is celebrating a comeback story of his own.
Known notably for his role at 12 years old as Short Round in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he struggled to find work in Hollywood as he got older.
Ke tearfully said in his recent Golden Globes speech for Best Supporting Actor, ‘for so many years, I was afraid I had nothing more to offer. That no matter what I did, I would never surpass what I achieved as a kid’. (We’re not crying, you are.)
The rest of the nominees for this category include Judd Hirsch (The Fablemans), Brian Tyree Henry (Causeway) and Brendan Glesson and Barry Keoghan both for The Banshees of Inisherin.
Best Actress in a Leading Role.
While nominee Michelle Yeoh may be an obvious favourite for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once, National World reports that the current contender for ‘Best Actress in a Leading Role’ is Aussie Cate Blanchett.
Cate plays a fictional renowned composer in Tár, which is also nominated for ‘Best Cinematography, Directing, Film Editing, Best Picture and Writing (Original Screenplay).
The rest of the nominees include Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie), Michelle Williams (The Fablemans) and Ana De Armas (Blonde).

Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Everything Everywhere All At Once - once again - dominates with two nominees in this category; Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis.
There’s been a stir on Twitter during the awards season around Stephanie being snubbed of nominations of Best Supporting Actress at other awards ceremonies, with Jamie Lee Curtis’ smaller role being recognised instead. Fans are now thrilled that it’s finally her time to shine.

The rest of the nominees include Hong Chau (The Whale), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin) and Angela Bassett.
Angela Bassett’s nomination for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever makes Marvel history as the first actor to be nominated for an Oscar in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
There are numerous other films nominated for other categories we haven’t even mentioned yet, including The Batman, Babylon, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and more.
