Jimmy Carr and Other Celebrities Pay Tribute to Comedian Sean Lock

The 58-year-old passed away yesterday.

The world is a little less funny today after British comedian and 8 Out of 10 Cats star Sean Lock lost his battle with cancer at age 58.

A statement by the funny man’s management team confirmed his passing on their website.

“It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Sean Lock,” Off The Kerb Productions said.

“He died at home from cancer, surrounded by his family. Sean was one of Britain’s finest comedians, his boundless creativity, lightning wit and the absurdist brilliance of his work, mark him out as a unique voice in British comedy.”

Host of 8 Out of 10 Cats Jimmy Carr led the tributes for Lock, saying he truly loved the man and will miss him bitterly.

“I loved him,” Carr tweeted.

“I’m watching clips of him right now—laughing and crying. I’ll miss him so much.”

8 Out of 10 Cats co-star Jon Richardson joined Carr in the tributes, remembering how he looked up to Lock for a long time and felt honoured to share a stage with him 10 years.

“I idolised Sean as a comic long before I became a comedian myself and 10 years working alongside him didn’t diminish that,” Richardson wrote.

“I’m devastated for his family today and sad for comedy… Undisputed, undefeated, carrot in a box champion. I will miss him.”
