Save the Date: Here’s When Triple J’s "Hottest 100" Is Happening in 2019

For the second year, the Hottest 100 avoids Australia Day.

Triple J has announced the key dates for their next "Hottest 100 Weekend", side-stepping Australia Day for the second consecutive year.

In 2019, the Hottest 100 countdown begins at 12pm AEDT on Sunday 27 January. Since Australia Day (26 January) falls on a Saturday this year, you’ll still be able to take advantage of the Monday public holiday if you want to plan an epic Hottest 100 listening party on Sunday.

In fact, Triple J will also play the Hottest 200 – 101 from 12pm AEDT on Monday 28 January, if you’re a completist and want to know if your non-Amy Shark votes at least got close to the top 100.

Voting for the 2019 Hottest 100 begins on Monday 10 December, closing on Tuesday 22 January.

Last year, Triple J moved the date of the Hottest 100 away from Australia Day following consultation with "musicians, community leaders, representative groups, triple j staff, ABC groups, and a wide range of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander media, language groups, and many of the Indigenous artists featured on triple j."

"There were a lot of different perspectives about 26 January, and different ways to approach Australia Day. But when it came to the Hottest 100, it was clear most people want the Hottest 100 to be on its own day when everyone can celebrate together,” the station said in a statement.

Over the past three years, Triple J has also partnered with AIME to help raise $600,000 for Indigenous youth. This year, they’ve teamed up to raise money for Lifeline, and aid "young people who are struggling".
