Ruby Rose Won’t Be Returning for “Batwoman” Season 2

The role will be recast.
Stans of The CW's drama series Batwoman have been left shocked by the announcement that Ruby Rose will be exiting the show ahead of Season 2.
She starred as Bruce Wayne's cousin, Kate Kane, who took on the mantle of Batwoman.
It's undoubtedly an unexpected development, especially considering she had only filmed one season of the show.
"I have made the very difficult decision to not return to Batwoman next season," Rose said in a statement.
"This was not a decision I made lightly as I have the utmost respect for the cast, crew and everyone involved with the show in both Vancouver and Los Angeles."

However, Rose did not explain her reasons behind the decision. According to Deadline, sources believe it's not related to the stunt injury she suffered during the filming of Season 1.
Although, it could possibly have something to do with the toxic backlash she received on social media, which resulted in Rose deactivating her Twitter account.
Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions have issued a statement to thank Rose for her work on the show.
"Warner Bros. Television, The CW and Berlanti Productions thank Ruby for her contributions to the success of our first season and wish her all the best," the companies said.
They added that they're planning to cast another actress from the LGBTQ community for Season 2.
"The studio and network are firmly committed to Batwoman's second season and long-term future, and we—along with the show's talented creative team—look forward to sharing its new direction, including the casting of a new lead actress and member of the LGBTQ community, in the coming months."
Batwoman was forced to end its season early due to the coronavirus pandemic, so it's unclear how the show will introduce the new lead.
Fans have taken to Twitter to express their shock over the announcement.
RUBY ROSE LEFT THE ROLE OF BATWOMAN?!?!?! I actually really liked her in the role.

Never understood the hate she would always get. It’s so weird to recast the lead of a show and to act like nothing’s changed. pic.twitter.com/aOSknj0gYd
Me: “2020 can’t get any worse.”

Now, it's time to think about who you would like to see take over the role.
Batwoman Season 2 is expected to premiere on The CW in January 2021.
