Ruby Rose Leaves Twitter, Blocks Insta Comments Following Batwoman Backlash

"If you need me, I'll be on my Bat Phone."
Ruby Rose has deactivated her Twitter account and blocked comments on her Instagram, following a week of toxic messages following her casting as an LGBTQI Batwoman in a new TV series.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Rose will make her debut as Batwoman/Kate Kane on the CW’s annual DC crossover event at the end of the year, in which Arrow, the Flash and Supergirl will also appear.
If her debut is successful, the network will launch a standalone series based on Rose’s Batwoman, becoming the first TV series focusing on an LGBTQI superhero.
The announcement was largely met with approval, and Rose even went on The Tonight Show to talk about what being cast as Batwoman meant to her, getting emotional in the process.
But, as has become the case with almost any casting announcement for a woman in a superhero property, toxic backlash (this time based around her sexuality) has led Rose to leave Twitter and deactivate her account.
Prior to leaving, Rose, who identifies as genderfluid, responded to the criticism, saying: "Where on earth did 'Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can't be Batwoman' come from... has to be the funniest, most ridiculous thing I've ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with 'she's too gay'... How do y'all flip it like that. I didn't change."
After confirming she was taking a "break from Twitter", she informed the world: "If you need me, I'll be on my Bat Phone."
