Ruby Rose Premieres "Batwoman" Suit But the Jury Is Still Out

Meet Ruby Rose's Batwoman.
The first look at Ruby Rose as Batwoman has been revealed in the leadup to a crossover event in The CW's Arrowverse, and it's certainly getting some opinions.
Ruby Rose, who was first cast for the role in August, will be appearing in a crossover event spanning three episodes of Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl in December. A series for Batwoman, with Rose in the lead, is also being developed and if picked up, will potentially hit screens in 2019 or 2020.
If the series is produced, it will make Batwoman the first superhero television series with a queer character as the lead.
But it's the reveal of the costume that has some, metaphorically, stroking their chins. While the long red hair and black spandex-y suit combination remains largely faithful to the versions found in the original source, not everyone is feeling it.
I was hoping she would not wear a wig and rock her natural short hair look. I also was hoping to not be reminded of the George Cluney Batman costume. And...I was hoping for a nod to the Tv version since that is where she originated from. I don't find it original or fresh.

the suit doesn't look right, if the hair came out the back maybe, it's just blocking the classic cowl spikes

It's not the first backlash the show and Rose have received. Back in August when the announcement was first made, Rose received a barrage of criticism on social media from fans arguing that, as she doesn't identify as lesbian, she shouldn't play a lesbian character.
Rose responded by explaining that this was unfair given that she's often been considered "too gay" for a lot of roles.
"Where on Earth did 'Ruby is not a lesbian, therefore, she can't be Batwoman' come from—has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I've ever read," she wrote on Twitter.
"I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with 'she's too gay' how do y'all flip it like that? I didn't change.
"I wish we would all support each other and our journeys."
Watch Ruby Rose take on criminals on Foxtel from 10, 11 and 12 December. Mark it in your calendar right now.
