Record Breaking: Nearly 90 Per Cent of Australia's Youth Are Enrolled to Vote in 2019 Federal Election

It's the highest amount of young people enrolled to vote ever.
We're less than a month out from the 2019 Federal Election and while voting enrolment has now closed for the upcoming election, the outcome has been great.
The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has revealed that there are a record number of Australians enrolled to vote in the upcoming election. That number was 16,424,248 million, meaning 96.8 per cent of Australia's voting population will have a say in who runs the country for the next three years.

Among those voters were the 18 to 24-year-olds (the youth vote), who are, historically, one of the age brackets with the lowest vote enrolment percentage. Thankfully, things seem to have turned this time around with an estimated 88.8 per cent of them being enrolled to vote; the highest in Australia's history. In fact, about 70,000 young people enrolled in the week preceding its close on 18 April.
Tom Rogers, the Electoral Commissioner, said that this was the most complete electoral roll in Australia's history.
"There were around 70,000 18-24 year-olds among the additions to the roll during the close of rolls week," Rogers said.
"Enrolment for this youth cohort at 88.8 per cent is now even higher than it was for the marriage postal survey when it was 88.6 per cent."
