Put Out Your Mohawks: Hawkeye to Get Disrespected Even In His Own Spin-Off Show

Gosh, can you cut an arrow-slinging, vest-wearing guy some slack?

Variety is reporting Hawkeye will become the latest Avenger to get his own spin-off series on the upcoming streaming service Disney+.

But for those who finally think this is #JusticeforHawkeye, the most mocked of all Avengers, well, it ain't.

The series will reportedly instead focus on Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton passing the 'Hawkeye' torch to young protégé Kate Bishop.

Here is footage of Renner receiving that very news:

In the comics, the Kate Bishop character took over from Barton and became part of the 'Young Avengers'. And though neither Disney, Marvel or Renner confirmed the news to Variety, there’s a shot of Renner training up a young woman in the latest Avengers: Endgame trailer, meaning, we may get to meet Bishop even sooner than we thought. (Or, it’s just his daughter.)

The Hawkeye TV show will be a "limited series", just like the upcoming spin-offs centered on Loki, Vision and Scarlet Witch, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Of course—and spoiler alert for Avengers: Infinity War—you’ll notice that some of those characters either died during the last major Avengers movie, or were dusted by Thanos in its conclusion. It’s not known when any of these shows are taking place. For instance, after the characters are "resurrected" in Endgame (which is not a guarantee for Loki and Vision, who were straight-up killed by more traditional means), or prior to the events of Infinity War.

Since we didn’t even see Hawkeye during Infinity War—presumably because he was off chilling with his now-likely-disintegrated family—it’s even harder to say when his show will be placed. Though, theoretically, we'll have a pretty good idea after the release of Endgame.

Either way, whether it’s in Avengers: Endgame or his own standalone series, it sure sounds like we should start preparing to say farewell to Renner’s Hawkeye.

We will always remember the good times.
