PSA: Ariana Grande Wants to Remind Us How Important Mental Health Is

Ariana Grande also wants us all to be "a lot nicer."

A teary Ariana Grande has told Beats 1 that people need to look after each other in light of the tragic incident at one of her shows in the United Kingdom last year.

In 2017, a terrorist bombing occurred at one of her concerts in Manchester leaving 19 people dead and a further 59 injured. Grande returned to Manchester two weeks after the incident for a benefit concert for the victims and their families.

She told Beats 1 that a song from her recent album Sweetener, "Get Well Soon", is dedicated to the victims and their recovery.

"I just wanted to give people a hug, musically," Grande said.

"I feel like the lyrics can be kind of corny when I talk about wanting to hug you and stuff but like, I do."

"I just want to do something to make people feel good and less alone. It's not just about that. It's also about personal demons and anxiety and more intimate tragedies as well," Grande continued.

"Mental health is so important. People don't pay enough mind to it because we have things to do. We have schedules; we have jobs; we have kids and places to be; pressure to fit in, Instagram stories, whatever f****** facade you're trying to put on, trying to keep up.

"[But] people don't pay attention to what's happening inside."

She went on to explain that she needed to keep touring to show her fans that she wouldn't let the incident stop her from continuing, and she was so impressed by how brave her fans were for still showing up to shows after it.

"You want to set the same example, you want to keep going," Grande explained.

"You want to not be afraid because of course, that's what [the terrorists] want."
