Princess Diaries 3 Is Confirmed – Here’s What We Know

Dreams really do come true.  

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the hit coming-of-age 2001 film, The Princess Diaries, has confirmed its third film of the series.  

The Princess Diaries is what many of us grew up on, a story about friendship, realizing your true potential and romance – what’s not to love!

In the original film, Mia Thermopolis, a socially awkward teen who attempts to fly under the radar at school, finds out that she is in fact the princess of Genovia – a kingdom in Europe which needs her ruling. Mia is taken under her grandmothers wing to prove that she is fit for leading Genovia.  

“You try living for 15 years thinking that you’re one person, and then in five minutes, you find out you’re a princess. Just in case I wasn’t enough of a freak already, let’s add a tiara!” The Princess famously said. 

The screenplay will be written by Aadrita Mukerji, whilst our beloved Debra Martin Chase, a familiar face within the Princess Diaries world, will also produce the third.  

Importantly, the next film will be picked up from the end of the second film, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement released in 2004.  

Thankfully, not another reboot. 

Whilst the film legend Anne Hathaway is yet to spill the beans on her return, we do know that she has publicly provided support for the third film. We can only hope to see the return of these true queens Mia Thermopolis and Queen Clarissee Renaldi on our screens soon enough.
