Sorry: Princess Diaries 3 Is Not Happening (Yet)

It’s been a hard day for fans of Breaking Bad and The Princess Diaries (and the thin cross-section were those fandoms meet).

Rumours began swirling around the Internet this week that Disney was developing a third movie in the labyrinthine Princess Diaries saga.

Sadly, they were premature, as a source close to the franchise has told Variety no such sequel is in the works.

There is no screenwriter working on a script and, most importantly, lead actress Anne Hathaway is not attached to reprise her role as Princess – sorry, Queen - Mia. (Spoilers for The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.)

However, Variety doesn’t want to extinguish the flame of hope entirely, suggesting a third instalment is totally possible.
