One Nation Senator Wants to Abolish the United Nations; Says It’s ‘Socialist’ and ‘Anti-Life’

Malcolm Roberts will be holding a forum in parliament to discuss scrapping the United Nations next Wednesday night.

The One Nation senator has lashed out at the United Nations, an international organisation with 193 member states. It sets out to achieve: worldwide peace and security, closer relations among nations and resolutions to humanitarian and socio-economic problems.

However, Roberts thinks the organisation has run its course.

“The United Nations has outlived its usefulness and must be replaced with a new international body, one comprised solely of those nations governed by democratic principles devoted to genuine democracy, equality and peaceful relations throughout the world,” read an invite he penned.

The proposed solution? To create a new world body called “The Covenant of Democratic Nations”.

Roberts wants to see the United States defund and withdraw from the UN—an international body of nations—to see the creation of a new, international body of nations?

The Covenant of Democratic Nations would have the power to review or nullify all acts the UN has created; it could also make entirely new international laws.

Roberts has a particular bone to pick with the UN, and it’s to do with abortion. A rally was held outside QLD parliament on Saturday against the proposal to decriminalise abortion (If you didn’t know, abortion is still covered in the criminal code in all Australian states and territories except the ACT).

The One Nation senator was present at the rally, saying the UN is pushing a pro-abortion agenda. “We are now becoming prey to an external force, and that is the United Nations,” he said. “This abortion push is part of that anti-life agenda.”

Roberts also used his maiden speech to decry the international organisation. Speaking to the Senate he urged Australia to follow Britain’s lead and launch an “Aus-exit” from the “socialistic” United Nations and the International Monetary Fund.

If you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a vid of it.
