Pauline Hanson Says Australians Are Fed Up With “Reverse Racism” And Being Told To Be Tolerant

Pauline Hanson has decried reverse racism in Australia, saying she’s sick of being called a racist and has “has had it up to here” with being told to be tolerant.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson launched her comments during a parliamentary debate over potential changes to Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act.

According to Huffington Post Australia, Ms Hanson wishes to repeal the entire part of the law which makes it unlawful to offend, insult, humiliate or intimidate people on the basis of their race.

SBS reports the One Nation leader, along with Liberal Democrat David Leyonhjelm, have proposed a private bill which “seeks to decimate” current race-hate laws.

During the debate Ms Hanson said, “We can’t have an opinion, we can’t say anything anymore. It’s become now in Australia, down to reverse racism. That’s why Australians are fed up with it.”

Senator Hanson then declared she’s sick of being labeled a racist, going as far as to insist her accusers can’t single out any racist comment she has ever uttered. (Which some might say, is a little far from the truth.)

She also spoke about how Greek and Italian immigrants had a “good sense of humour” about being called “wogs” before decrying public sensitivities. “I’m sick and tired of seeing them stand up for one race, or other people, in this country, that don’t see themselves as Australians, who have no intentions of ever assimilating.”

“We are told constantly time and time again that we must be tolerant… Well I’ve had it up to here with my tolerance.”

The comments from Ms Hanson come in light of other politicians stepping out and speaking up against the proposed changes to Section 18C, including Muslim Labor MP Anne Aly and Indigenous Labor senator Pat Dodson.
