Taiwanese One Nation Candidate Says She’s Not Offended By Hanson’s “Swamped By Asians” Remark

Shan Ju Lin is One Nation’s first Asian candidate, and she believes “good Asians” will back Pauline Hanson and her party.

Ms Lin, candidate for Bundamba, understands why Ms Hanson made the infamous remark 20 years ago that the country was at risk of “being swamped by Asians”, the ABC reports.

“For European people it’s very difficult to distinguish Chinese or Korean or Japanese, and I can understand why she said it,” said the candidate.

She also believes One Nation will get the votes of “good Asians” in the Queensland election, slated for 2018. According to Ms Lin, they too fear the rising influence of the Chinese Government in Australia.

“She [Hanson] sees the problem ahead of everybody, including you and me,” explained Ms Lin.

The candidate moved from Taiwan to Australia 26 years ago, and said the Chinese Government was exerting too much influence on Australia.

She’s concerned that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is already influencing the Labor and Liberal parties.

“I feel the Chinese Communist party is a great threat to Australia because they bought a lot of businesses and our harbours and properties,” said Ms Lin. “They will take over power of Australia… they will form their own government.”

The political tension between China and neighboring Taiwan go back several decades, and is still a dominant source of conflict today. Ms Lin admits to having a dislike for the CCP since birth.

She is set to run in the Queensland state election seat of Bundamba in 2018; the demographic is overwhelmingly white, but she believes the Asian community will support her too.

“There are two groups of Asians… The good Asians will be like me,” she said.
