One Nation Party Split And Fractured As Senator Culleton Officially Resigns

One Nation senator Rod Culleton has officially left the One Nation Party, saying he has been subjected to “public rants” and “un-Australian behaviour”.

For weeks now, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has toiled with inner-party turmoil.

The ABC reports Mr Culleton resigned from the party late Sunday night; he intends to stay in parliament as an independent.

“Personal attacks and undermining, un-Australian behaviour towards myself and my team, has been ongoing,” Senator Culleton said in a statement.

He says Ms Hanson had demanded control over diaries, office management and staffing. “The irrational dictates have caused only disunity and distrust,” revealed the senator.

The party leader has since responded to the resignation:

“Rod was a pain in my backside to tell you the truth… I am glad to see the back of him,” Senator Hanson responded. Calling him “ego driven” and someone who “loves the media”.

Mr Culleton has been under the spotlight in recent times in lieu of a previous larceny conviction at the time of his election.

The Commonwealth argues his conviction technically disqualifies him from being a senator; like, at all.

His case is currently before the High Court, pending a decision.
