Nintendo Has Unveiled a Limited-Edition Mario Switch and It’s-a Dreamy

You can get your hands on it as early as next month!

Overnight, Nintendo threw us another curveball and announced a few more last-minute additions to Mario’s 35th anniversary celebration.

Nintendo was just getting started when they offered up the Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., and Super Mario 3D All Stars because now they’re giving fans a chance to play as their favourite plumber, on a console themed just for him.

That’s right, Nintendo has released all the deets for a Mario themed Nintendo Switch console in all its red and blue glory.

The new system—Mario Red & Blue Edition—comes with a firetruck red console and dock, two red Joy-Con controllers with blue and red detailed Joy-Con straps, a blue Joy-Con holder and a red and blue Mario carrying case.

The case is covered in subtle glyphs of some of our favorite Mario enemies and some loud yellow zippers.

It also comes with a screen protector to help you travel through Warp Pipes and such, so you’ll have everything you need from the get-go.

The two stark primary colours, red and blue, are of course the classic hallmark of Mario. However, while some are loving the look of this new edition, others aren’t sure if their eyes can handle it.

Considering the original Switch just comes with a red and blue Joy-Con controller set along with a grey console and dock, it’s almost like this new edition has taken the original idea and run wild with it.

This is the first time a Nintendo Switch system has been available in a new colour, so it’s bound to be a popular item for collectors.

If the anticipation is killing you, don’t stress, you’ll be able to throw your coins at it in Australia from 12 February 2021 at selected retailers (we’re guessing JB-Hi-Fi and EB Games of course). It’ll set you back an eye-watering $469.96.

Pre-orders aren’t available yet but watch this space.

With all the exciting games and expansions we were treated to in 2020 thanks to Mario’s special birthday, it has only left us more excited to find out what treasures Nintendo is planning to spill this year for Zelda, Donkey Kong and Metroid who will also be ticking off some major milestones in 2021.
