Everybody Wants Nintendo’s "Super Mario Bros." Game & Watch So Bad It’s Definitely Selling Out

It’s-a-mine.

Nintendo is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the original Super Mario Bros. by sending the gaming world into what can only be described as a face-tearing frenzy of take-my-money madness.

Ahem.

It was today revealed that, in honour of the big 3-5, Nintendo will drop a whole bunch of new games, products and in-game events to pay tribute to the modest plumber Mario Mario and friends. Find out all about them here.

This includes Super Mario 3D All Stars, an optimised version of classic 3D Super Mario games like Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy all in one package for the Switch. It’ll be released on 18 September but will only be available to purchase until 31 March 2021.

However, what really has punters excited is Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros., which is based on the collectable Game & Watch released in Japan in 1980 as Nintendo’s first hand-held console. The newie ports the original Super Mario Bros. game (in colour!) onto a hand-held device that also, get this, tells you the time.

The future is now!

It also comes with Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels, which was released in Japan as Super Mario Bros 2, and a special version of Ball with Mario makeover.

The Game & Watch: Super Mario Bros. will retail for $AUD79.95, and drops 13 November in Australia. However, if response to the product from the online Mario-hive is any indication, you’re going to want to pre-order this extremely "limited" item if you want to pick it up on the 13th.

Of course, some buyers may have ulterior motives.

As of this writing, it’s still available to pre-order from JB Hi-Fi and reportedly from EB Games as well (though we can’t find it on the website).

Godspeed.
