Mario Fights a Giant Bowser As a Giant Cat in the “Bowser’s Fury” DLC and We’re Shook

It looks like Mario and Bowser Jnr have teamed up.

With just a month until its release, Nintendo has treated fans to a trailer for the new Bowser’s Fury expansion on Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury.

In the new portion of the game, Mario assumes his feline form to defeat a gargantuan Bowser who has lost all control. Only this time, Mario is also giant. A giant cat, in fact.

Using the massive bell that Nintendo has been teasing in a bunch of other trailers, Mario jumps into cat form and transforms into a size that gives Bowser a run for his money, with Bowser Jnr by his side.

Apart from that, the two-minute trailer gives us very little info on what the expansion actually entails.

We see a lot of Mario running around in colourful open-world environments from a level that isn’t in the original game, before Bowser appears and turns the world into nightmare land.

As usual, the game will be available to play both online and local co-op multiplayer for up to four players, letting players take on the roles of Mario, Luigi, Peach and Toad.

The game is also launching alongside two new amiibo figures, the new Cat Mario and Cat Peach, as a double pack that can be purchased separately for $44.95.

While we don’t yet know what the go is for the exact storyline of this expansion, the trailer sure has left us excited.

Fans are also loving the idea of a behemoth Bowser and giant cat Mario, recreating their own versions of artwork based on the trailer.

Luckily, we won’t have to wait too long to find out ‘cos the DLC is set to launch on 12 February 2021.

In addition to the expansion announcement, Nintendo has spilled the news about a special in-game event.

The Super Mario Bros. 35 World Count Challenge is a special event in which players all over the world work together to try to complete goals during a set period of time.

You will need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to join the online battle game, which is planned to run from late January to March.

To achieve the goal of the first Super Mario Bros. 35 World Count Challenge, players around the world must work together to defeat 3.5 million Bowsers during the event period, which runs from 6:00pm AEDT on 19 January to 5:59pm AEDT on 26 January.

If the number of total Bowsers defeated in the game by players around the world rises to 3.5 million during the event, eligible players who defeat at least one Bowser can receive 350 Platinum Points, which can be redeemed for any reward that requires Platinum Points on My Nintendo.

Details about the next World Count Challenge between February and March should be announced soon, so watch this space.
