Netflix Reckons About 40 Million of You Have Watched "You" and "Sex Education"

Turns out You and Sex Education are some of Netflix's biggest hits.
If you've been anywhere near the internet in the past few weeks, you'll be forgiven for thinking you've been transported back to 2008 due to all the moody stills of former Gossip Girl star Penn Badgley dominating it.
You was released on Netflix last Boxing Day, and while being initially being released on Lifetime in the United States back in September to little fanfare, it became an instant hit on the streaming site.
Netflix took to Twitter to humblebrag that You had been watched by more than 40 million members in its first four weeks while Sex Education, which has been out for a just a week, was on track to hit that figure as well.
According to Deadline, Netflix defines a show's "view" as at least one episode being watched 70 per cent of the way through. That means, technically, you could have only watched 28 minutes of the first episode of You and just over 36 minutes of Sex Education's first episode and you would've contributed to that monster tally.

Others are sceptical about the figures, pointing out that Netflix is extremely guarded about their viewing stats but have coyly dropped them in a Tweet.
Netflix has never reported their viewing numbers to press EVER, and now they're just starting to tweet stuff out? guess we'll take your word for it okay https://t.co/7ajw5iFXrX

Regardless, the figures are still likely to be in the millions, which ain't too bad for a show about a dreamy, psychopathic stalker and another about a teen sex therapist.
