Netflix Has Revealed Australia’s Favourite Shows and Movies for 2020

Did you watch them?

We're nearly at the end of 2020 (thank goodness), and we can all agree that it has been one highly chaotic year. 

The coronavirus pandemic forced us to spend way more time indoors than we usually would, which led to many hours spent in front of our screens binge-watching the latest shows and movies.

With that in mind, you may be wondering: Which shows and films were the most popular during this extremely unpredictable year? 

Fortunately, Netflix has gone ahead and answered that very important question for us.

The streaming service has picked out the top series and flicks that Aussie viewers watched in 2020. In fact, Netflix has even sorted them by genre (to save you from having to decide what to watch next, of course). 

It's safe to say that some winners come as absolutely no surprise at all. American action comedy-drama series Cobra Kai, based on The Karate Kid franchise took out the top spot for the action genre (it definitely deserves the win btw). 

Tiger King was the most popular documentary series, which is probably fair considering it inspired millions of TikToks, and Emily in Paris was the most-watched comedy show.

Our favourite show of 2020, The Queen's Gambit was the most popular drama series, while Enola Holmes starring Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin was the top drama flick. 

As it turns out, Aussie viewers were absolutely loving female-led stories, iconic characters and a whole lot of romance this year.
