Netflix Has Officially Renewed “Emily in Paris” for Season 2

Prepare for more croissants.

Netflix's latest dramedy Emily in Paris has single-handedly taken over the internet (and my brain) during the past month.

It all started when the show premiered in early October and French critics slammed it for its offensive portrayal of Parisians, which creator Darren Star refused to apologise for. There was also a whole heap of confusion around Emily's age after actress Lily Collins said the character was only 22.

For what it's worth, Collins has since admitted that Emily is probably not 22. Her actual age is still, uh, TBC.

If you somehow haven't watched even one episode of the series yet, it follows Emily (Collins), an ambitious woman from Chicago who leaves her previous life and boyfriend behind and moves to Paris for an unexpected job opportunity. She is tasked with bringing an American point of view to a venerable French marketing firm.

Anyway, what we've all really wanted to know is whether Emily in Paris will be renewed by Netflix for a second season.

While we were 99 per cent sure it would, it has now been officially confirmed that the show will return for a Season 2.

The streaming service announced the news with a video of each cast member saying "deux", which translates to "two". You can check it out below (just make sure you fast forward to hottie Lucas Bravo).

Additionally, Netflix wrote a letter to Emily's boss Madeline Wheeler (Kate Walsh), from the perspective of Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) letting her know that Emily will need to stay put in Paris for a while longer.

"We are writing to regrettably inform you that Emily Cooper will need to remain in Paris for an extended period of time. Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir," the letter read.

At this stage, Netflix has not revealed when production on Season 2 will start or when we can expect it to land on the streaming platform.

While we don't know much about the plot, Star previously dropped some hints about the upcoming season to OprahMag.com.

"In Season 2, [Emily's] going to be more a part of the fabric of the world she's living in. She'll be more of a resident of the city," the director said.

"She'll have her feet on the ground a little more. She's making a life there."

Who knows? Maybe she'll even properly learn French!
