When Is "Cobra Kai" Season 3 Coming to Netflix?

This one is for fans of The Karate Kid.

If you're looking for a show that's heavy on nostalgia, it's time you watch Cobra Kai, an American action comedy-drama series based on The Karate Kid franchise.

Created by Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg and Josh Heald, the show is set a whole 34 years after the original Karate Kid film.

It brings back Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) decades after their iconic fight in the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament.

Upon rescuing an asthmatic kid from a gang of bullies, Johnny reopens the Cobra Kai karate dojo, and becomes the new sensei to outsiders and bullied children. When Daniel discovers that the Cobra Kai has reopened, it reignites their feud.

The first two seasons of Cobra Kai were originally released on YouTube Premium (or YouTube Red as it was previously known), but the rights to the show have been acquired by Netflix, and the first to seasons landed on the streaming service on Friday 28 August. Since then, it's been a huge hit for the streaming service.

Of course, you've probably already binge-watched Seasons 1 and 2. So, the real question is: when will Season 3 arrive on Netflix?

Well, last week Hurwitz confirmed on Twitter that we can expect to see the third season of Cobra Kai on Netflix in 2021.

Additionally, he added that S3 has already been filmed and edited.

Unfortunately, however, Netflix has not revealed the exact release date.

Considering filming on the upcoming season has been wrapped for months, fans were expecting S3 to land in 2020.

With so many Netflix series only now re-entering production due to the coronavirus pandemic, it's possible that Cobra Kai was moved to a 2021 release date to fill some of the gaps the streaming giant now has in its 2021 lineup.

On the other hand, Netflix has dropped an action-packed trailer for the series, which you should definitely check out if you haven't watched it yet.

At this stage, we don't know too much about the plot for Season 3. The Netflix trailer mostly features footage from Season 1 and Season 2, with a brief tease for S3.

In an interview with Collider, Zabka teased a potential time jump.

"He wasn't doing too well at the end of Season 2, and you know, it picks up a little bit later in time," Zabka said.

Well, if we could jump through time to 2021 now, that would be great.

Update 05/10/20: Season 3 of Cobra Kai will land on Netflix on 8 January 2021, and the series has also been renewed for a fourth season.
