The Cast for Netflix’s Live-Action “Avatar: The Last Airbender” Has Been Revealed

It’s the quenchiest cast ever.

After a few years lying low, Netflix have confirmed the cast for the upcoming live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender and we honestly couldn’t be happier.

Widely considered to be one of the best animated shows of all time, Netflix will bring Aang, Katara, Sokka and Zuko back to life in this remake of the Nickelodeon darling, and finally we have our first look at the cast.

We should mention that M. Knight Shyamalan did make a live-action film version of the show in 2010. The fact it won Worst Picture, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay at the Golden Raspberry Awards tells you everything you need to know about that little disaster.

Here’s the cast that has been announced so far.

Aang

Obviously, you’re all dying to know who is going to play Aang so we won’t keep you waiting any longer.

The last airbender will be played by 12-year-old Filipino-Canadian actor Gordon Cormier. He’s already got some great acting gigs under his belt having starred in Lost in Space and The Stand, so he’s the perfect choice for the role.

Katara

Waterbending master Katara will be played by Canadian and indigenous Mohawk actress Kiawentiio Tarbell.

The 14-year-old is best known for appearing in the Netflix show Anne with an E and Ed Helm’s Rutherford Falls, as well as being an accomplished musician who has released a heap of singles.

Sokka

If there was a role just as important as Aang, it would have to be Sokka. The jokester—who is also Katara’s older brother—plays a key role in the trio’s mission to overthrow the tyrannical Fire Nation.

To fill the role, Netflix have gone for 13 Reasons Why actor Ian Ousley. He’s funny, super talented and has an uncanny resemblance to the Nickelodeon character too.

Zuko

A hero is only as good as the villain they face, so getting the casting right for Crown Prince of the Fire Nation Zuko is crucial.

Netlfix have given this honour to Dallas Liu. The young actor had a role in the Hulu comedy PEN15 and will also feature in Disney’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

When will Avatar: The Last Airbender come out?

Unfortunately, there is no word yet on when the series will hit screens, but considering production isn’t due to start until November this year, don’t expect to see Avatar on your screens until late 2022 at the earliest.
