Netflix and the Satanic Temple Have Literally Made a Deal Over “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina”

Netflix v. Actual Satanists is over.

History/Treehouse of Horror episodes tell us it’s not always wise to make a deal with the devil, but Netflix has nonetheless settled their lawsuit with the Satanic Temple.

Earlier this month, the Satanists filed a $US50 million suit against Netflix for allegedly appropriating their church’s icon, Baphomet, for their show Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Now, in a statement, the Satanic Temple has announced that the lawsuit filed against Netflix and Warner Bros. has been "amicably settled", with Netflix acknowledging "the unique elements of the Satanic Temple’s Baphomet statue" in the credits of already filmed episodes.

The punchline, of course, is that Netflix barely ever lets you watch the credits, always skipping to the next ep instead.

No further details about the settlement are known. However, in the Temple’s statement, cofounder and spokesperson Lucien Greaves shared how their feelings have been hurt by everyone’s reaction to the lawsuit, which doesn’t sound very satanic to us.

"I have gotten quite a bit of hate mail from people seemingly basic enough to conceive of the situation as one in which a large powerful Satanic organisation is using its might to bully an uncertain and innocent teenage witch who has just been newly exposed to the wide, cruel world," their statement reads.
