Netflix Is Getting Sued $US50 Million For Satan Appropriation on "Sabrina"

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is facing a chilling lawsuit by a Satanist group.

Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was only released a few weeks ago but it's already facing its first lawsuit.

The real-life Satanist group, The Satanic Temple, threatened to take legal action against Netflix after it was alleged that the show's creators had appropriated a statue of "Baphomet" from the group's temple.

True to their word, The Satanic Temple will now be suing Netflix and Warner Brothers a cool $US50 million for copyright infringement and its use in fueling "Satanic Panic" (the act of spreading fear against satanic rituals and witchcraft).

The statue in question appears in four episodes of the show's first season in the Academy of Unseen Arts; a school for witches. The Satanic Temple's co-founder and spokesperson, Lucien Greaves, asked Netflix to digitally remove the statue from these episodes before the group filed the lawsuit.

According to Variety, Netflix referred comments to Warner Brothers who declined to make a statement.
