A Real-Life Satanist Group Wants to Sue Netflix Over "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina"

Some Satanists are a bit annoyed at depictions in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina dropped on Netflix last week, and while it's receiving rave reviews, there are some Satanists who are not happy with the show, accusing it of appropriation.
Real-life Satanist group, Satanic Temple, is planning on taking legal action against Netflix over what they describe as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina's "appropriation" of the group's statue.

Specifically, their co-founder and spokesperson, Lucien Greaves, has a gripe with a statue that appears in the Academy of Unseen Arts (a magic school Sabrina is sent to) that bears a similar resemblance to the Satanic Temple's own statue.
Yes, we are taking legal action regarding #TheChillingAdventuresofSabrina appropriating our copyrighted monument design to promote their asinine Satanic Panic fiction.

Greaves told SF Gate that the imagery makes Satanic Temple look evil, and he wants Netflix to digitally remove the statue from the show.
"It's deeply problematic to us," Greaves explained.
"I feel that the use of our particular image that is recognized as our own central icon [being] displayed fictionally as central to some cannibalistic cult has real-world damaging effects for us.
"[But] even if that wasn't the case, we'd be obligated to make a copyright claim because that's how copyright works."
He's also criticised the show for its promotion of "Satanic Panic", a form of moral panic relating to the spread of fear surrounding satanic rituals and witchcraft.

Netflix has yet to comment on the debacle.
