Musicians and Artists You Didn't Know Were Heading to the 2023 Perth Festival

The most exciting time of year for all things art, music, dance, theatre, poetry and sound in Perth is arriving in just a few months.

And Perth is putting on a show.

Over the years, we’ve seen The Giants stroll through the city streets, watched Kings Park and the Botanic Gardens light up with stories of Noongar culture and paraded down Canning Highway on the Highway to Hell.

This year there’ll be a host of new and exciting events – but we bet you didn’t know some of these huge acts would be gracing our shores.

Björk.

She’s an Icelandic pop icon known for her fusion of electronic and organic sounds.

Her audio-visual experience “Cornucopia” is arriving at Langley Park in February, bringing a “cyber-sonic Garden of Eden”.

She’ll be performing live with choirs of flutes, voices and a whole host of musicians.

Having already cemented herself as a music legend, you won’t want to miss Björk at Langley Park.

Julia Jacklin.

You might know her for her heart-wrenching, rock-driven ballads.

Julia broke onto the scene in 2016 and has been killing it ever since, with her recent album “Pre Pleasure” receiving critical acclaim and picking up an ARIA nomination this year.

She’ll be playing at the Rechabite on 21 and 22 February.

Bikini Kill.

Ever wanted to get your hair tangled and body sweaty with rageful pop-punk anthems?

Bikini Kill tackle politics and social issues through their lo-fi music, bringing a fierce, feminist flair to the stage.

Angel Olsen.

Hailing from the US with musical masterpieces under her belt, Angel Olsen has made a name for herself in the alternative music scene and beyond.

Her sound rides between folk, indie rock and pop, with something for everyone to belt along to.

You’ll want to be there when she sings “Shut Up And Kiss Me” on 7 and 8 March.

Kae Tempest.

Known by many first as a poet and wordsmith, Kae Tempest has a catalogue of electronic, pop-rock and hip-hop music that’s bound to enrapture audiences at The Rechabite in February.

It’ll be electrifying, whip-smart, innovative and invigorating. Make sure you catch the voice of a generation.

Nakhane.

A musical act endorsed by both Madonna and Elton John can only mean magic.

Nakhana is a South African multi-disciplinary artist who knows how to put on a show. They combine the political with the emotional and are establishing a new sound in the indie scene that simply should not be missed.
