Movie Murderer Kate Winslet Clears Conscience; Admits Jack Could Have Fit On That Door In "Titanic"

The fans believed it. Science proved it. And now Kate Winslet has admitted it: Jack could have totally snuck onto that floating door in Titanic.
Spoilers follow for a 19-year-old movie that grossed more than $2 billion at the box office. At the conclusion of Titanic, Winslet’s Rose and Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jack survive the sinking of the titular ocean liner, only for Jack to freeze to death in the water while they wait for rescue. Rose, chilling on a broken hunk of door floating in the Atlantic Ocean, goes on to live a long – though likely guilt-ridden – life. On Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show this week, Winslet finally cleared her conscience. “I think he could have actually fitted on that bit of door,” she said, damningly. The Mythbusters actually proved this hypothesis back in 2012, even stepping over director James Cameron’s claim that the raft would have sunk if they were both on-board – the two lovers would have merely needed to pop Rose’s life-jacket under the door to keep it afloat. However, Winslet’s admission aside, Cameron does have the final definitive explanation as to why Jack died: Because his screenplay said so. When asked in 2012 by The Guardian if Jack could have somehow fit, he answered thusly: “Wait a minute, I'm going to call up William Shakespeare and ask why Romeo and Juliet had to die." Settled then.
