All the Big Moments and Winners from the 2024 Golden Globes

All the Big Moments and Winners from the 2024 Golden Globes

“If I don’t win, I’m leaving” 💀

As the first week of January comes to a close, we all know what that means: the beginning of award season.

The 2024 Golden Globe Awards kicked us off with some ‘uge nominations for actors, actresses, films and TV shows.

These are our picks for the BIGGEST moments, winners, losers, and surprises of the Golden Globes Awards 2024.

Biggest winners: Oppenheimer & Succession.

If it were a competition between Barbie and Oppenheimer, (which we’re not saying it is) then Oppenheimer would have won.

The film won a total of five awards including Best Picture, Best Original Score, Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Cillian Murphy), Best Director (Christopher Nolan) and Best Supporting Actor (Robert Downey Jr).

Plus, this is Christopher Nolan’s first Golden Globe win as a director.

Succession also came out on top and came away with four awards including Best Drama Series, Best Actress – Drama TV Series (Sarah Snook), Best Actor Drama TV Series (Kieran Culkin), Best Supporting Actor Television Series (Matthew Macfayden).

Biggest yikes: Jo Koy.

It’s the first time the comedian has ever been a Golden Globes host and we’re afraid it might be the last time.

Unfortunately, his 6.5 minute monologue fell flat. Especially when he referred to Oppenheimer as “based on a 721-page Pulitzer Prize-winning book about the Manhattan Project” and described Barbie as “based on a plastic doll with big boobies”. Big no.

Taylor Swift also did not look impressed when he joked, “the big difference between the Golden Globes and the NFL? At the Golden Globes, we have fewer shots of Taylor Swift”.

In Jo’s defence, he was only given the gig a little less than two weeks to come up with a monologue due to the SAG-AFRA strike whereas previous hosts were given months.

Biggest surprise: the lack of Barbie wins.

While the Barbie movie surpassed all our expectations and was a box office hit, it only won two Golden Globes.

One for Best Original Song (Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell) and for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, a new category this year.

The real world is forever and irrevocably messed up!

Cutest moment: Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner 🥹

It’s not Valentine's Day yet but that doesn’t mean anything to Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner. The couple looked loved up while attending the Golden Globes and were even pictured looking adoringly into each other’s eyes and sharing a kiss.

Ugh, and who said love was dead?

Funniest moment: Jennifer Lawrence threatening to leave.

She’s best known for falling down at the Oscars, but at this year’s Golden Globes, J-Law had a funny jibe for the camera.

When the category she was nominated for was announced (Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical/Comedy), the camera panned to her and she jokingly mouthed, “if I don’t win, I’m leaving”.

Emma Stone ended up winning that category, but she still stayed (and slayed).
