Meanwhile In Japan: This Giant Sinkhole Was Repaired In A Week

A sinkhole massive enough to swallow a five-lane road in Japan has been restored to immaculate condition - within a week.

Photos have emerged on the internet of a giant "Olympic swimming pool" sized sinkhole in the city of Fukuoka, Japan.

According to the ABC it first appeared on November 8, cutting off water, power and gas to many parts of the city. Construction workers immediately rushed to the scene and began repairs.

In just a week's time, the road was reopened, in pristine condition.

Talk about unparalleled efficiency?

wow

It only took a couple days to fill in the hole with a mixture of cement and sand. Fixing damaged utility lines and resurfacing the road took an extra two days, reports CNN.

Mayor of Fukuoko, Soichiro Takashima, apologised for the "great trouble" the sinkhole had caused.

Mr Takashima was quoted saying the new section of road was built 30 times stronger than it had been before the collapse.

You know what they say: If you're going to do a job, do it right.
