Here’s How They Filmed the Viral #Flipgirl Scene in "Content"

It’s not really a hoax if they actually flipped a car.

This week, the ABC debuted its innovative new vertical series Content, and because it’s a comedy by and starring women, it was immediately misunderstood by men across the internet.

The series stars Charlotte Nicdao as Lucy, a young woman looking to maintain her online infamy as "#Flipgirl" after a live-steamed car accident that goes a little something like this:

The show takes place entirely on Lucy’s phone, mimicking the display of a wannabe influencer pretty convincingly. That’s why, when someone cut out the above scene and put it on Twitter, the clip went viral in real life.

The baffled responses were almost as funny as the clip itself:

To prove that, actually, this was part of a TV show that people should be watching, Nicdao shared behind the scenes footage of the "accident", in which a car really was flipped with her inside (as, umm, two guys held onto it with ropes as a safety measure).
