Man Opens Chip Packet to Find Just One Miserable Chip (You’d Be Outraged Too)

Everyone has uttered the line at least once in their lives: “I swear chip packets are just half air.”

Sometimes the deceit is even more unforgiving. Sometimes, chip packets can be, like, 98 per cent air.

Look, no one likes the devastating feeling of ripping into a bag of chips to find you’ve been outright cheated. It’s plain cruel.

One guy from Nottingham in England felt this searing disappointment when he opened up a packet of chips (or ‘crisps’ as the English call them) and found one, single chip.

That’s right, just one measly chip.

In a video posted by Helen Abbott on Facebook, the man can be heard saying: “That’s a new sort of scrimping on crisps, innit?”

The bloke was clearly morally outraged, but equally as confused.

“We knew there wasn’t a lot in there but wasn’t expecting just one crisp,” Abbott told Mashable. “We thought it was funny because they are reduced calories.”

Waitrose, the upscale supermarket chain where the chips were bought, has apologised for the big upset. A spokesperson said they were “baffled” as to why there was just one lonely chip.

It’s not the first time someone’s flagged the chip industry’s fragrant abuse of our trust. One artist was so fed up with the air in chip packets, he measured it. The photographer took side-by-side photos of the plastic packaging of chips, and their actual content.
