"Marvel's Avengers" Broke Records as the Most Downloaded Beta In PlayStation History

Just when you thought the Marvel excitement was over.

One of the most anticipated games of 2020 has just made history as PlayStation's most downloaded beta globally.

The beta for Marvel's Avengers was released to gamers over several weekends in August, with PS4 players who pre-ordered getting first dibs on the game.

Square Enix announced the milestone on Twitter yesterday, congratulating the game developer Crystal Dynamics on their "heroic achievement".

Fans were equally excited, giving the new game rave reviews online.

Considering the beta was free to download and, if we’re being honest, because it has the word 'Avengers' in the title, it makes sense that the initial release of the game did so well.

Earlier in August, Marvel announced that Spider-Man would be joining the games roster as a featured playable character and Xbox users were not happy about missing out.

Despite this, over the three weekends that the beta was available, over six million players took part on all platforms with a total of over 27 million hours of playthrough.
