Xbox Players Weep as Spider-Man Joins Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation Only

My Spidey senses are telling me someone’s going to be mad.

Your good mate Spider-Man will be making an appearance on the new Avengers game, but you’ll miss out if you don’t own a PlayStation console.

Joining the roster in early 2021, this adaptation of Spider-Man has been developed by Crystal Dynamic (having no relation to Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s version or Spider-Man: Miles Morales, also releasing on the PS5 later in the year.

As Spider-Man joins the Avengers world, he gains access to all the exciting technology and features already available to the Avengers team including tech from SHIELD, Hank Pym and Stark Industries.

As promised, Spider-Man will be available as a free DLC to owners of the original base game on PS4 and PS5.

Announced this morning on the PlayStation blog, the decision to include Spider-Man was a no brainer, with the author describing the new take as ‘sensational’.

While some players expressed their excitement, many others are bitterly disappointed with the exclusivity and availability of the character.

Xbox fans are really feeling the sting as Spider-Man is a fan favourite and it doesn’t look like Xbox will be getting any exclusive characters or heroes.

Despite the array of disappointment online, many are quick to argue that due to Sony owning the rights to Spider-Man, it only makes sense that PlayStation have kept him an exclusive character.

If you don’t already have it marked in your calendar, Marvel’s Avengers is set to be released on 4 September 2020 as a thrilling, third person, action-adventure experience merging single player and cooperative gameplay in an epic cinematic storyline.

If September is too far away, the developers of Marvels Avengers have announced the dates for all their beta access before the official release.

From 7 August, PS4 pre-order customers will have access to the beta content and from 14 August all PS4 owners, and PC and Xbox One pre-order customers will get their chance.

Finally from 21 August all PC and Xbox One players will get their first glance.

Whether you were planning to invest your time into the new Avengers game or not, Spider-Man and his exclusivity is really causing a stir.
