How to Dunk in “NBA 2K22” ‘Cos We Can’t in Real Life

I believe I can fly.

For most of us, dunking in real life isn’t possible, but thanks to NBA 2K22, we can dunk anytime we want to now, regardless of your basketball skill level.

The only problem is mastering the dunk in NBA 2K22 isn’t as easy as we think. With the introduction of the 'dunk meter' in this year’s game, nailing a dunk isn’t as easy compared to NBA 2K21.

So, to give you a little hand, here’s our guide on how to dunk, dominant dunk and aggressive dunk in NBA 2K22.

How to perform a dunk in NBA 2K22.

First up is the standard dunk. No bells and whistles, just good old-fashioned dunking.

To perform a dunk, you’ll need to press and hold R2 (PlayStation)/RT (Xbox) when you drive the player towards the basket with the left stick.

Once close, move and hold the right stick up and the player will perform a two-handed dunk.

This game does have a new dunk meter, so you’ll need to practice perfecting your release of the right stick. If you release the stick when the meter hits the green zone, the better your chances of a successful dunk (especially if you’re close to the little white line in the meter).

How to perform a dominant dunk in NBA 2K22.

If you’re looking to use a dominant dunk (pretty much one-handed), you need to press and hold R2/RT while driving towards the net, and then hold the right stick up towards the left or the right.

Make sure to release the right stick when you hit the green zone of the dunk meter.

The different directions of the right stick will determine which hand the player dunks with.

How to perform an aggressive dunk in NBA 2K22.

The aggressive dunk feature is new to the NBA 2K series and is exclusive to the next-gen version of the game.

To do the aggressive dunk, hold R2/RT as you drive towards the rim. When close, hold the right stick down and release it when the meter is in the green zone of the dunk meter.

For any players who prefer using the square button (PlayStation)/X button (Xbox) to shoot, you can use the same method above and substitute the right stick for your preferred shooting style.
