Lindsay Lohan Says She Was Racially Profiled at London Airport

The actress recalled being “racially profiled for the first time” in her life on Good Morning Britain.

Lindsay Lohan, who is white, said she was stopped in a Heathrow security line when traveling from Turkey to the United States. “When I was flying to New York recently, I was wearing [a] headscarf and I got stopped at the airport and racially profiled for the first time in my life,” Lohan explained.

The celeb has come under the spotlight previously for her fascination with Islam. In an interview on Turkish TV show Haber Turk, Lohan said studying the Quran opened doors to her spirituality. “This is who I am,” she announced.

On Good Morning Britain, Lohan said airport officers demanded she open her passport; when her name was revealed, they started immediately apologising. She says they asked her to remove her headscarf.

She removed the headscarf upon request. “But what scared me was… how would another woman who doesn’t feel comfortable taking off her headscarf feel?” Lohan questioned. “That was really interesting to me.”

In recent months she has spoken out on behalf of Syrian refugees, including Bana Alabed, the inspiring 7-year-old Syrian girl who became well known for her tweets.

Answering questions about her—apparent—new found faith, Lohan said, “I just study it. Nothing is confirmed yet.”
