LeBron James Is Making It Rain in the New "Space Jam 2" Trailer

Anyone else feel like shootin’ hoops?

All right you '90s kids, it’s time to relive the nostalgia of Space Jam with Warner Bros.’ trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy.

The trailer officially dropped over the Easter long weekend and it looks killer, with LA Lakers player LeBron James teaming up with the Looney Tunes to compete in another game of basketball—this time in virtual space.

In the trailer, James is seen playing basketball with his kids before him and his son are abducted into the virtual world by an evil Don Cheadle.

From here, James is banished into the Tune World (we know, a world within a world) where he begins his journey to basketball greatness alongside Bugs Bunny and co against some freaky looking aliens and robots.

Joining the Looney Tunes will be a stream of Warner Bros. owned characters from films to populate the world in the sequel, with the likes of Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings, Mad Max, The Iron Giant and Tomb Raider all featuring.

It’s basketball, it’s Lebron James, it’s pop culture. C'mon, what’s not to love?

For those of you who are too young to remember the first film, allow us to enlighten you.

The original Space Jam came out in 1996 and starred the legendary Chicago Bulls player Michael Jordan.

In the movie, Jordan must team up with the cast of the Looney Tunes (Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Lola Bunny, etc.) to beat a team of Monstars who stole their talent from NBA players like Charles Barkley and Larry Johnson.

We know what you’re thinking, but trust us, Space Jam is peak '90s cinema.

Because of how popular the '90s movie was, you can see why there's so much excitement surrounding the long overdue sequel.

Don Cheadle will be playing the role of Al-G Rhythm, an evil computer algorithm who sets up the events of the film, and Euphoria actress Zendaya will star as Lola Bunny.

Aside from James, the film is set to feature several NBA players including Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving as well as WNBA players Diana Taurasi, Nneka Ogwumike and Chiney Ogwumike.

For those who are lovers of the first film, the news of Space Jam 2 being close to release has been a long time coming.

The sequel was stuck in development hell since the release of the first film, with Jordan refusing to return to the franchise.

Since then, golfer Tiger Woods and Skateboarder Tony Hawk were both tapped for starring roles in spin-offs, but both those projects failed to launch.

Finally, in 2015 James signed a deal with Warner Bros. to star in the sequel and got the wheels of production moving again to where we are today.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is due to hit cinemas across Australia on 15 June. To kill the time, why not go shoot some hoops.
