Kristen Bell Is Set to Return to the “Gossip Girl” Reboot

Hey, Upper East Siders.

It has been seven years since the somewhat underwhelming reveal of Gossip Girl’s identity, and it’s safe to say we miss our overdramatic friends from the Upper East Side. However, that all changed back in July, when it was announced that Gossip Girl would be coming back to our screens.

Previously a CW show, Deadline reported that HBO has ordered a 10-episode reboot of the series for its upcoming HBO Max streaming platform.

So basically, we’re in for a whole lot of scandal.

Of course, everyone was eager to know whether the original cast would be returning for the reboot. After all, we’d love to see what became of lonely boy Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley), Serena van der Woodsen (Blake Lively), Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick, whose career was put in questions by #MeToo allegations), and Nate Archibald (Chace Crawford).

While it hasn’t been confirmed whether the actors will have any part in the series, it turns out we will be hearing a very familiar voice. It was recently confirmed that Kristen Bell will be returning as the narrator of Gossip Girl.

"Kristen Bell has always been and will always be the voice of Gossip Girl," original series creators Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage said in a statement.

At the moment, we don’t know exactly what the plot for the reboot will be. According to the logline, it looks like it will focus on a new generation of private school teens, saying, "The prestige series will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years."

Joshua Safran, who also produced Quantico, will write the script and produce alongside Schwartz and Savage.

HBO Max will launch in May 2020, although the Gossip Girl reboot doesn’t have a release date yet. We’ll keep you updated as to how you can watch it in Australia.

Until then, xoxo.
