Kim Kardashian Visits President Trump to Seek a Pardon For a Grandmother Spending Life in Prison

One is a reality television star, the other is helping someone out who received an unfair sentence.
Many have criticised the United States for handing down harsh punishments to people of colour and other minority groups while sparing others in positions of power, but one case, in particular, has caught the eye of the public.
Her name is Alice Marie Johnson, a 63-year-old grandmother, and she's spent just over 21 years in jail already. Her crime? A first-time drug offence, for which she was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
But someone with a lot of money and influence decided to get behind the movement to see her released. That someone is Kim Kardashian West.
"You know, I think in life, everyone makes mistakes," Kardashian West told Mic. "[Alice] really deserves a second chance."
In order try and get Johnson a pardon, Kardashian West recently met with President Trump, who has the power to grant clemency (release from jail) to inmates serving times.
According to Kardashian West, the meeting went well and she's hopeful she'll achieve some great progress for Johnson.
"The President seems to have passion for everything Jared [Kusher, his son-in-law] is trying to do," Kardashian West told Mic after she met with President Trump.
"That just makes me happy that the conversation is moving forward."
So, the next time you dismiss Kardashian West as the epitome of greed, just remember that at least one reality television star is doing something good at The White House.
