Kevin Spacey's Latest Movie Made a Total of $126 on Opening Day

Trigger Warning: This article discusses sexual assault.

Over the weekend, a film called Billionaire Boys Club was quietly released to a few cinemas around the United States. The cast features Emma Roberts and Baby Driver's Ansel Elgort but it was another cast member, Kevin Spacey, who overshadowed the film's release.

So overshadowed, in fact, that it made an embarrassing total of $US126 on its opening day and another $US162 the following day, a Saturday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film might not even be able to crack the $US425 mark for the weekend. If you need context, the top-grossing film for the weekend in the U.S. was Crazy Rich Asians with $US25 million.

Last year, Spacey was accused of sexually assaulting fellow actor Anthony Rapp in the 1986 when Rapp was just 14 years old. Since then, many others have come forward to allege similar actions. Spacey now has six open investigations against him.

Since the allegations came to light, Spacey has been written out of the final season of House of Cards and his scenes in All the Money in the World were re-shot with Christopher Plummer instead.
