ICYMI: Stephanie Beatriz's "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" Directorial Debut About #MeToo Is Toit

Beatriz's episode on #MeToo was hard-hitting.

Last year, Stephanie Beatriz (who plays the fierce Rosa Diaz) announced she was making her directing debut with an episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine in Season Six.

Fast forward to now. After months of waiting, we finally got to see the product of her work.

Multiple plotlines featured in the episode that aired Friday (titled "He Said, She Said"), but it was one, in particular, that stood out.

While investigating a case, Amy Santiago and Jake Peralta had to wade in the waters of a "he said, she said" case.

It's then that Amy discloses her own #MeToo experience to Jake in what feels like an emotional wall of bricks collapsing. Impressive stuff for a cop comedy.

Reflecting on what it was like to direct this tough episode, Beatriz told The Hollywood Reporter she found it exciting and would like to do more in the future.

"Those arguments Rosa and Amy have about reporting sexual assault and what is the value of that—and there is no clear-cut answer, or right answer for everyone, which I think is a big part of the discussion," Beatriz told THR.

"I've had with friends who are women that don't want to go public with their stories.

"It's a personal decision and can impact lots of different aspects of your life if you say publicly [that] you had a #MeToo moment."

The fandom weighed in on Beatriz's directorial debut and it was a resounding double thumbs up.

Catch the episode on SBS Viceland, SBS on Demand or iTunes.
