Keanu Reeves and Carrie Anne-Moss Are Returning for the Fourth "Matrix" Movie

It’s time to re-enter The Matrix.
Our favourite internet memelord Keanu Reeves will be putting on that nylon black trench coat once again, with the fourth film in The Matrix franchise officially confirmed by Warner Bros. Picture Group chairman Toby Emmerich earlier in the week.
As reported by Variety, Lana Wachowski is set to write and direct the fourth movie. Toby Emmerich said in a statement, "Lana is a true visionary—a singular and original creative filmmaker—and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe."

Lana wrote and directed the original trilogy with her sister, Lilly. In a statement to Variety, she said, "Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now. I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends."
Keanu will reprise his role as Neo, while Carrie-Anne Moss will return as Trinity. Considering the first movie was released twenty years ago, you’d expect to see a dramatic change in Keanu’s appearance, but we all know he doesn’t age.
However, it is unconfirmed whether Laurence Fishburne will portray Morpheus. There are talks of him being re-cast with a younger actor, but there's also the possibility that he could be digitally de-aged. Either way, it’s hard to measure up to Keanu’s immortality.
The franchise has earned more than $US1.6 billion at the global box office, despite The Matrix Revolutions only receiving 35 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes. With lukewarm reactions to the last movie, some people think they probably should have stopped there.

Look, we should at least have a little bit of faith in Keanu.
As per Variety, the film is expected to begin production at the top of 2020. Plot details are being kept under wraps for now, but we will keep you updated.
