When Is “The Matrix Resurrections” Coming Out in Australia?

Everything you need to know.
It was the one question we all wanted to be asked one day by Morpheus: do you take the blue pill and continue living life as it was, or do you take the red pill and be exposed to the world that is the Matrix?
Okay, so that dream will probs never come true, but we can come pretty darn close with the release of the fourth Matrix film, The Matrix Resurrections.
With everyone’s favourite actor Keanu Reeves returning for the iconic role that made him, here’s everything you need to know about The Matrix Resurrections.
When is The Matrix Resurrections coming out?
The all too similar scenario of COVID-19 delaying films also hit the fourth Matrix film.
Initially slated for a mid-2021 release, The Matrix Resurrections is now dropping on 26 December this year.
With that hot summer weather hitting hard over the holidays, nothing beats the post-Christmas food coma than a new movie on Boxing Day.

What is The Matrix Resurrections about?
For those old enough to remember, at the end of the original Matrix trilogy, Neo, Trinity and Morpheus all sacrificed themselves to save humanity from the machines.
It seemed like a closed book but creators of the films—the Wachowskis—have found a way to bring them all back.
All we know so far is that Neo is back living his life in the Matrix and only remember flashes of life when he was the chosen one. There’s a lot of questions we have, like how Trinity survived, are the machines back, and what’s the situation with Morpheus.
Who from the original trilogy is returning?
The good news is Reeves is back to reprise the role of Neo, a former cybercriminal. Alongside him, Carrie-Anne Moss also returns as Trinity, who appears to be now living a normal life in The Matrix.
Unfortunately, Laurence Fishburne wasn’t asked to return to play Morpheus (boo). Instead, actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be portraying Morpheus which leads to us wondering if he is playing a younger version of the character.
Those hoping to see Hugo Weaving in action as Agent Smith will be bummed to know that scheduling conflicts meant he couldn’t take part in the film. As a small silver lining though, Neil Patrick Harris has joined the cast as ‘The Analyst’.

The Matrix Resurrections premieres on 26 December.
