James Corden Is Hosting the “Friends” Reunion and Fans Are Not Happy

He’s no friend of mine.

HBO dropped the Friends reunion trailer this week and fans everywhere are venting their anger at James Corden being chosen to host the one-off special.

The reunion special has already caused some confusion as it’s not another episode added to the series, but quite literally an unscripted reunion of the main cast filmed for us.

In the trailer, the original cast of Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer all return to the original set to be a part of a live panel discussion as well as re-enact famous scenes.

Take what we can get, I guess.

Fans have come around to the idea, however, they simply can’t stand the fact that the interview panel will be hosted by none other than The Late Late Show host James Corden.

Though the trailer makes no mention of Corden—nor does he appear—his voice asking questions to the cast is unmistakable.

Anyway, let’s have a look at some of our favourite Twitter reactions to Corden hosting the Friends reunion.

Friends fans will of course know that Corden never appeared in the show, so it makes his inclusion in the special all the more baffling.

As has been pointed out online, Friends boasts a huge cast of special guest celebrities who have appeared on the show, including mega stars Brad Pitt, Bruce Willis and Reese Witherspoon.

For a show that was shelling out millions to each cast member per episode at the height of its popularity, getting a celebrity who appeared in the show to host shouldn't have been hard, right?

Personally, I would have loved to have seen Paul Rudd host it.

The Friends reunion special drops 27 May on HBO Max. There’s no news about where to watch it in Australia but all signs point to Binge given their partnership with HBO.
