How to Watch Quibi in Australia (Because It's Suddenly Available Here)

(*Immediately heads to Chrissy's Court*)
A brand new streaming service with the not-at-all ridiculous name of Quibi (short for 'Quick Bites') has launched in the United States (and, surprisingly, in Australia too), boasting heaps of shows designed specifically to be watched (or, chomped?) on your phone.
Here's a taste.
A multi-billion dollar gamble by Jeffrey Katzenberg (co-founder of DreamWorks) and Meg Whitman (eBay’s former CEO), Quibi looks and feels different to its rival streaming platforms (think Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video). No, literally: it looks and feels different, because each episode of its shows, or chapters of its movies, are less than ten minutes in length, and formatted for a smartphone screen. That means most have been shot to be viewed vertically (though you can still tilt them horizontally if you want to watch in landscape mode).

Quibi was initially designed to host the kind of streaming content people could enjoy on the go; to work, to school, in-between commutes, while waiting outside a restaurant, and so forth. However, it’s now ironically being launched when people can’t go anywhere, and are looking for as much content as they can get their hands on, no matter the length, including, say, a seven-hour big cat saga on Netflix.
Will Quibi work? Hard to say! (The jokes are already coming in thick and fast on Twitter.)
But at least Quibi's offering a 90-day free trial (phwoar) when you download the app.
How to watch Quibi in Australia
All reports leading up to release said Quibi wouldn’t be available in Australia upon launch, but we were able to download the app and sign-up without issue from Day One. We’re even watching some of the content while writing this story! (Hey, don't hate us, it's just a quick bite.) If this changes and the app disappears locally, we’ll be sure to let you know.
In the meantime, Aussies can download Quibi to Apple or Android devices. You’ll be charged $12.99 a month after the trial ends. Find out more at the official site.
What to watch on Quibi
If you’re looking for recommendations, Liam Hemsworth and Christoph Waltz star in a human-hunting thriller called Most Dangerous Game; Chrissy Teigen oversees petty issues a’la Judge Judy in Chrissy’s Court; LeBron James offers a glimpse at the first year of his newly-founded school in I Promise; Will Forte and Kaitlin Olsen play reality TV stars in the comedy Flipped; Tituss Burgess hosts a cooking show where ingredients are fired at contestants via cannon; and Chance the Rapper takes over for Ashton Kutcher with a re-do of his, um, classic, Punk’d.
And there are, like, too many more to mention.
The main reason for #GaymeShow on @Quibi is to exalt you, @kirstendunst.
